Level Measurement

Radar, guided-wave radar, hydrostatic and point-level instruments for continuous level, overfill protection and dry-run detection.

Measurement methods: non-contact radar avoids wetted moving parts, guided-wave radar follows a probe, hydrostatic transmitters infer level from liquid head, and point-level switches provide high, low or safety alarms. The correct method depends on the medium and vessel.

Selection information: tank height, geometry, nozzle and internal obstructions; liquid or solid properties; dielectric constant; foam and agitation; temperature; pressure; vapour; dust; cleaning cycle; continuous output; alarm logic and functional-safety needs.

Compare the hygienic Micropilot FMR43 radar sensor and Liquiphant FTL63 level switch. The level-measurement selection guide provides broader application guidance.
